Building a Stronger 63119 Community by Challenging the Racial Status Quo

The Alliance Closed December 2024

For more than twelve years, the Alliance for Interracial Dignity was an all-grassroots organization that built coalitions, crafted community learning opportunities, demanded diverse representation in local government, supported informed voters, improved police-community understanding, amplified local history critical to grasping and repairing modern tensions, and advocated for inclusive housing reform. (Past Programs.) We ran on volunteer power and a budget of $1000 a year.

There will always be a role and a need for grassroots organizing, and just as we have often looked to our ancestors in the Webster Groves Interracial Group of the 1930’s and 40’s, we hope that the Alliance for Interracial Dignity has built a strong foundation of support for the next generation of advocates and organizers.

Equity requires that everyone has a voice and that diverse voices inform what our community looks and feels like across all aspects of life.

This is particularly true of opportunities for civic leadership, employment, education, housing, entertainment, and recreation.
